European Elections – Nominations for West Midlands of England – Official List
So the day has finally come and the Nominations for the 2014 EU Elections in the West Midlands of England are published. The first thought I have is that I am pleased that I am facing just 10 political opponents rather then 11 we faced in 2009 in the West Midlands of England.
In summary in the West Midlands we have 8 parties that will recieve media coverage during the Campaign, Nikki Sinclaire, No2EU and Harmony Party, will recieve no further coverage during the campaign, although it is acknowledged that Nikki Sinclaire has campaigned to come out of the EU harder then any other individual in the UK. Unfortunately she is unlikely to gain re-election, due to UKIP, Mike Nattrass and No2EU. Nikki Sinclaire was offerred to become an English Democrat, but she foolishly turned down this offer in 2010.
Anyway here is a brief analysis of the runners and riders who you can vote for on Thursday 22 May 2014.
An Independence from Europe Party or some might say the “Mike Natrass (former UKIP) ‘sulk’ party” which appears to only exist to take some votes away from UKIP, his former party. Running under the Name and description “An Independence from Europe – UK Independence Now”. A very similar ploy as the 2009 “UK First” political party, that stood in 3 Regions of England and gained circa 2.3% – mainly by taking confused UKIP voters away from UKIP – looks like Mike Natrass is trying to do the same thing to UKIP in 2014 and to give him credit he has made a much better job of it then UK First did in 2009. It also proves that the governance role of the Electoral Commission in elections, is something that they simply can’t handle !
British National Party Running under the 2014 Ballot Paper Slogan of British National Party – “Because we can make Britain better”. The question that immediately comes to mind is “how” can the BNP make Britain Better ? especially when UKIP appears to have captured the vast majority of British Nationalist voters, and Nick Griffin is personally bankrupt. If he can’t run his own personal finances, what chance would Nick Griffin have of running a Country ? Also where did the BNP get £55,000 to stand across Great Britain – very strange indeed.
Conservative Party Running under the 2014 Ballot Paper Slogan of Conservative Party “For real change in Europe”. As there has been on “real change”for the past 4 years under a Conservative led government it is difficult to understand what the Conservative & Unionist party have in mind ? Many Conservatives would probably believe that the best “Real Change” in the Conservative party would be to stand up for England and the English for once and elect a sensible leader like David Davis who of course supports the creation of an English Parliament.
English Democrats Running under the new 2014 EU Campaign Slogan on the Ballot Paper of I’m English, NOT British, NOT EUropean! – the great news for English Nationalism was the 2011 Census, where 60% of people in England (in the comfort of their own home) when asked by the census, identified themselves as “English Only” as their Nationality, a further 10% identified themselves as “English/British” 20% identified as “British” and the remaining 10% were all sorts. This clearly shows that as devolution for Scotland, Wales and Ireland has kicked in, English Identity has increased and British Identity has decreased. Many, many people complain that they cannot identify themselves as English on “Government” forms. Coupled with the Scottish Independence debate and the change in English Democrats lead policy from “English Parliament” to “English Independence” the 2014 EU Elections present an interesting opportunity for the English Democrats – will the public use the opportunity to express their English identity in the East Milands of England ?
Green Party The Green Party of England & Wales, uniquely in the West Midlands has used the Slogan “Green Party Stop Fracking Now” – creating the wording on the Ballot Paper “Green Party – Green Party Stop Fracking Now” seems like however put in the Nomination papers for the Greens in the West Midlands had a stammer – I wonder if they we wearing socks with sandle ? Anyway it is interesting that the Green Party of England & Wales with it’s Australian Leader is the only option on the ballot paper, apart form the English Democrats that supports Scottish Independence. So if you wish to vote for a “left leaning” party supporting Scottish Independence in the West Midlands then the Greens are the only choice for you, naturally if you have a common sense view to politics then the English Democrats is your option of course !
Harmony Party Running under the Slogan – Zero Immigration, Anti-EU, Pro-Jobs, this party’s founder could be a supporter of several of the Nationalist parties on the ballot paper, however it is difficult to find out any information about the party as there is no web site, although this party is standing in 3 Regions in England. The creator of the party is a man called Terry Leach, who at the Agents briefing explained that he was not “on-line” and had never done anything in politics before, but had come into some money, and it would seem he wants to blow his money on an election ! – Anyway, no web site, no media coverage – however the name “Harmony” to me brings hair spray immediately to mind, maybe hairdressers will be voting for Harmony, or even Barber Shop Quartets ?
Labour Party Labour does not have a Ballot Paper Slogan. Before voting Labour – just think about Ed Miliband, that should put you off !
Liberal Democrats Liberal Democrats are not “outed” as a Pro-European Union Political Party – if that is what you want, you know who to vote for now.
No2EU No to EU is the Bob Crow (diseased) Union Anti-EU party, in 2009 they stood in 11 Regions in Great Britain out of 11, this time around they have not covered England, and so will get very little coverage, however the name is quite good, so they will no doubt take votes from UKIP.
UK Independence Party (UKIP) For British Nationalists the UKIP “train” for the 2014 EU Elections appears to be unstoppable at the time of writing. UKIP is of course a British Nationalist Party, and has no time for “England” or the “English”, preferring “Britain” and the “British”. – By the 22 May 2014 there is some hope that the people of England will have had so much of “Nigel Farage” that they will simply want to vote for something else – hopefully that something else will be English. However in the West Midland UKIP face their biggest challenge with 5 other parties on the Ballot Paper, that all too want to leave the EU – two of these parties led by very angry ex-Ukippers, who hate Nigel Farage. In 2009 UKIP gained 300,000 votes in the West Midlands, it will be very interesting to see how many votes they receive in 2014 when faced with “fighting” over the Euro-sceptic vote !
We Demand A Referendum Now are standing non unsurprisingly with the Ballot Paper description of “Re-elect Nikki Sinclaire MEP” The party has been set up purely to give Nikki Sinclaire a platform to get re-elected, although she did try to create a nationwide political party with George Hargreaves and Katie Hopkinson, unfortunately this has obviously failed, and Mike Nattrass has proven it could be done. Logic would have suggested that Nikki Sinclarie and Mike Nattrass should have worked together in some way, or even better they should have both moved over to the English Democrats in 2010 when an offer was on the talbe, but unfortunately both Nikki and Mike have very large egoes, and neither had enough imagination to see the move from British to English identity in England. Although it is highly doubtful that either Nikki or Mike will get elected they will almost certainly stop UKIP getting more than one MEP in the West Midlands, so they will have there revenge on Nigel !
To conclude there are now only 8 Political Parties standing in every constituency across England – these parties have taken the EU Elections seriously
1/ An Independence from Europe – UK Independence Now (Mike Natrass I’m cross with UKIP)
2/ British National Party – Because we can make Britain better
3/ Conservative Party – For real change in Europe
4/ English Democrats – Putting England First ! & I’m English, NOT British, NOT EUropean !
5/ Green Party
6/ Labour Party
7/ Liberal Democrats
8/ UK Independence Party (UKIP)
I hope you find my opinion of use or at least entertaining, please look at each of the Party’s web sites for further details
